thanks for the advice - i have page one results now for my local company and a friend of mine - all companies that have offices on a national scale should definately do the maps - i am surprised all the big name brands have not done this with their teams already.

I'm adding Facebook/Twitter buttons on my website and for those 2 little buttons, it scrap literally my website optimisation effort:

Twitter
- 3 different DNS
- 2 js files
- 1 iframe
- 1 cssimage

Facebook
- 3 different DNS
- 3 js files
- 1 css file
- 1 iframe
- 4 cssimages

All this for just 2 small buttons. And add to this Google Analytics/Maps it start to be kind of crazy...

Is it just me or Facebook/Twitter should at least provide us better stuff than this?

Yes, the Google maps compliment website optimisation and the advantages are you can be page one same day in most cases. Although the competition is becoming a lot more stronger these days as more companies are aware of the Google maps advantages
